Benitatxell invites you to get to know the history and the patrimony of its centre thorugh routes of theatre plays ‘Un museo al viento (A museum in the wind)’

12 July 2021

El Poble Nou de Benitatxell’s centre is a ‘museum in the wind’. It has hideouts and historic buildings which have been witnesses of the town’s history. Some of them are unknown for people in town, they tell the experience of their people and the events which left the print in the past and present of the town.

In order to get to know and boost this part in town, Tourism Councillor offers this summer the route of theatre plays ‘Un museo al viento (a museum in the wind)’ next July 15th and 29th as well as August 5th, 12th and 19th.

A character from the XVIII century who is awaiting for the town charter of Medinaceli’s duke will guide visitors through the main spots in the centre, like the church, ‘el portalet’ as well as the viewpoint, the Raconet, the old butcher’s and the inn, the Cervera cinema or the streets which honour the migration of people in town to Argentina and Argelia at the end of the XIX century and the beginning of the XX century.

“Thanks to this offer, it is intended to get to know people the history and origins of our town in an original and funny way. We want to win the attention of visitors and tourists apart from the offer of sun and beach and in this way boost the centre’s history, which is unknown for a lot of people”, the Tourism and Patrimony councillor, Victor Bisquert has pointed out.

Routes are completely free, they will start at the Municipal Market at 7:30pm. Posts are limited, and it is necessary a previous inscription to benitatxell@touristinfo.net or in person at the Tourist Info Office (Market Street,1) from Tuesday to Saturday from 10am to 3pm.
